The ATHR70X is Audio-Technica’s open-back professional reference headphone. Featuring specially designed drivers and acoustically transparent housings fashioned from aluminum honeycomb mesh, these headphones provide an accurate and natural open-back sound. They also incorporate a new, improved design of our popular 3D wing support system to provide even greater comfort during the prolonged use often required for music lovers and professionals alike.

ATH-R70x was designed in conjunction with Paris-based design agency Arro Studio. The final result perfectly blends form and function, with aluminium mesh earcup housings contributing to the model’s extremely low 210 gram weight. Combined with generous breathable fabric earpads, the light weight of the R70x makes it incredible comfortable during long listening sessions.

The proprietary drivers in the R70x – combined with the headphones’ acoustically transparent housings – deliver beautifully natural, spacious open-back tone. The 45mm drivers, created specially for the R70x, represent the culmination of Audio-Technica’s more than 40 years of headphone design. 

The use of carbon composite resin throughout the R70x’s construction also adds structural rigidity and, in turn, improved transient response detail. In addition, distortion is reduced, high-end frequency response extended, and accuracy improved with the use of high efficiency magnets and a pure alloy magnetic circuit design.

Robust yet lightweight, and equipped with a unique, dual-sided detachable cable that automatically maintains proper stereo orientation (no matter how it’s attached), the R70x headphones are built for lasting comfort, convenience and audio purity.
