The original D8000 was the first headphone to use Final Audio’s patented Air Film Damping System, which allowed planar magnetic drivers to create a more dynamic response, and blended some of the best qualities of both planar and dynamic driver headphones.
    
Created in response to listener feedback, the new flagship D8000 Pro Edition takes this technology and re-engineers it to create headphones with a more robust low-end response, plus top-of-the-line speed, impact, detail, and accuracy.

Best of Both Worlds

D8000 Pro Edition can reproduce sound that combines the delicate high-resolution high frequency range of a planar magnetic driver, while also keeping the low frequencies open and feeling more like a dynamic headphone.

The major challenge in conventional planar magnetic headphones is simple, yet difficult to solve: as amplitude increases in the low range, the diaphragm can come into contact with the magnets, reducing the quality and accuracy of bass reproduction.

Final Audio engineers endeavoured to create a diaphragm braking technology. After conducting measurements and simulations with laser Doppler devices, the Air Film Damping System (AFDS) was born to create space between the magnet and the diaphragm.

In doing so, the shortcoming of planar magnetic models — the low reproducibility of bass tones — was solved.

This technology represents a reinvention of planar magnetic headphones.

D8000 Pro Edition reproduces all the details from your music in spectacular fashion, allowing you to hear textural nuances that lesser headphones are unable to reproduce. You’ll notice every instrument cleanly separated, and stellar stereo imaging allows you observe and enjoy every element of your music, even in busy passages or complex mixes.

The D8000 Pro is an all-rounder, sounding impeccable regardless of genre. Pop and rock songs shine with excellent layering no matter your preferred listening volume. The bass reproduction of electronic music is impactful and accurate. Classical, jazz, and acoustic music benefit from the ultra-resolving treble, giving an incredible sense of clarity and insight. D8000 Pro is even forgiving enough to handle the less-than-optimally recorded music in your library.

By controlling every component of manufacturing, from sourcing the raw materials through to the assembly of the product, Final has achieved the high tolerances and outstanding quality required to create a headphone that performs to such a high level.

The team at Final created several new processes for manufacturing in-house specifically for the D8000 headphones. This includes both the construction of the driver diaphragm, along with the aluminum magnesium alloy housing of D8000 Pro, which is carefully machined with a focus on precision.

The popular silver version is imparted with an Alumite anodized aluminum finish. The black colour sports a leathercoat finish resembling the ones found on luxury SLR cameras. 

Cables and Case

D8000 Pro includes two unique detachable cables. The high-performance OFC black cable features a 3.5mm termination, and is 1.5m long making it convenient for everyday use. The striking OFC silver coated cable features a 6.3mm termination and a longer 3m length, for home listening situations where you require more distance between your headphones and music source.
